A NEW POST

I have not posted anything for a long time

but here is some new work - a new concept I make photos with an old Polaroid Camera - uses a Film made by Fuji that fits the Polaroid Fuji 3000s which has a beautiful paper negative. It is the part you usually toss away/ I keep it, scan it and play with it.

Route 66 - Road Trip

Route 66.  

 The legendary Highway runs through my town of Flagstaff AZ - just a block south of my studio.  Brandi and I did an overnight trip between Flagstaff and Holbrook AZ .  

Ninety miles there and back. 

We filled the back of my Honda CRV with props and drove - and pulled off the road to make photos when ever the location and light compelled us to stop.

We stopped ate curio shops, that corner in Winslow AZ, La Posada Hotel , Jack Rabbit, Holbrook, slept at the Wigwam Motel.

GENETIC IMPRINTS -the photos - the book

I recently read the idea that, back in the time of our emergence, the female - the woman - was more than a fertility deity.  More than a mother, she was the first practitioner of medicine and magic and that, in fact, she was the Creator.   Back in the time of our stone age emergence, God was female and this still imprints our genetic codes.

For me the image comes first,   I see it in front of me - a nude woman holding a wild animal skull.   I suggest to the model that this is about life, not death.   She works with some direction at first but soon as she carries and caresses her animal totem she becomes a soul carrier and spirit guide.

I react to this by submitting myself to the model and her intuitions.  We become collaborators as we respond to our Genetic Imprints.

KAYLA -- Stairway Set

 Kayla modeled for me a few years ago, I was just starting to work with a digital camera.   Last week I came across the work while sorting through my files and I thought, WOW !!!    We made these photos on the stairway to my apartment - which is next door to my Flagstaff AZ Studio.  Kayla is a wonderful creative sensual model.  Enjoy our collaboration.

KAYLEE - IMPALA SKULL

Today is Kaylee's birthday today (24 years), mine was last week (69 years).  We made these photos last saturday in my Flagstaff AZ studio.  Although we are great friends, and see each other often we had not done a photo shoot in a long time.   So it was kind of a celebratory shoot and I do celebrate the resulting photographs.    I hope you celebrate them too.
